LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers were able to secure a clutch victory in another chapter of their rivalry with the Boston Celtics just a day before a memorial is set to be held for the legendary Kobe Bryant.

Although the Lakers have done what they can to get back to business as usual, Bryant's sudden and tragic passing continues to linger with players and fans alike.

James has taken a central role in helping to honor the memory of his good friend. However, he admitted it is still difficult to discuss the topic, per Mark Medina of USA Today:

“His jersey is sitting in my locker right now. But it just puts me in a difficult mindstate if I continue to harp on it, if you can respect that,” LeBron James shared.

James' comments are certainly understandable considering how close the pair were as friends and competitors. Bryant had welcomed him with open arms when he began his new chapter in Los Angeles and officially passed the torch of the Lakers franchise onto him. Regardless, he understands expectations remain as high as ever.

It is difficult not to be reminded of the legacy that Kobe Bryant left behind both on and off the court. His presence remains as strong as ever at Staples Center, and highly-contentious matchups like the one they had against the Celtics conjures up memories of when he was leaving his mark on basketball's greatest rivalry.

While the service will offer friends and fans a final chance to say goodbye, the sting of this loss will always be felt by those he had impacted the most.
