The Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Golden State Warriors on opening night, but it from no fault of LeBron James or Anthony Davis.

The duo put up huge numbers in their season debut. LeBron was his usual stat sheet-stuffing self with 34 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five three-pointers. Anthony Davis meanwhile posted 33 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocked shots with zero turnovers.

Usually when the Lakers' two alphas are both on their game, it leads to a win. That's been the case throughout the first 113 games that they've both scored 30 points or more. This loss against the Warriors brings their record to 113-1 in such games.

While the Lakers already have their two brightest stars shining early, it's the rest of the team that needs to pick up the slack.

Russell Westbrook was putrid in his purple and gold debut, tallying just eight points on 4-of-13 shooting with just five rebounds and four assists.

Carmelo Anthony was relatively pedestrian as well, with just nine points on 3-of-9 shooting in his first Lakers game.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis were the only two Lakers to score in double-figures, which paints a picture of how much work they still need to put in for things to start clicking.

The Lakers, along with their new additions in Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony, will inevitably look much better than they did in game number one. But don't be surprised if they have a few stumbles like this one in order to get there.
