LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers came up just short against the lowly New York Knicks on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden. Of course, Los Angeles was without the services of up-and-coming forward Brandon Ingram, who is currently recovering from right shoulder surgery.

James called Ingram's successful procedure “a blessing.”

“It's a blessing that everything was successful,” James said after Sunday's loss to the Knicks, via Harrison Faigen of SB Nation. “It's a blessing that you get an opportunity to sit back and just be thankful for this beautiful game that the man above has given us — along with Dr. James Naismith — and I wish B.I. the most speedy, fast recovery that's possible. But come back healthy more than anything, because your health is your wealth, and that's all that matters.”

Ingram is expected to miss at least the next three-to-four months, but should be ready to go for the start of the 2019-20 regular season. Luckily for Ingram and the Lakers, the team will have a lengthy offseason to fully recover after a disappointing 2018-19 campaign.
“Absolutely, said James, via Faigen. “I’ve thought about how my summer is going to be. It’s unfortunate that we’re so far out of the postseason right now that it’s looking like we won’t be part of it. I would say the first thing that comes to mind is just taking care of my body. I’ve played a lot of basketball, played a lot of minutes over my 16-year career, so getting a couple more months to take care of my body and refresh my mind and my body is going to be very key going into my 17th year. So, [I’m] looking forward to that.”
As it stands on Sunday, the Lakers sit eight games under the .500 mark at 31-39.
