Retired NBA player-turned-analyst Paul Pierce usually doesn't give out praises to his former on-court adversary LeBron James. However, The Truth somehow changed his tune on Friday, calling the Los Angeles Lakers star “the best point guard” in the league right now.

Pierce joined Rachel Nichols and Richard Jefferson in the latest episode of ESPN's The Jump, where they discussed a recent survey of NBA GMs about the league's current best playmakers. At the 4:17 mark of the clip, the one-time NBA champion chimed in and said he is switching his vote to LeBron.

“Originally, I said Luka Doncic but if LeBron is the best player, and he played point guard, why is he not the best point guard in the league?  He led the league in assists. I forgot that LeBron just switched to point guard by the way. He's clearly the best point guard in the league,” Pierce said of the Lakers leader.

Based on the GM's survey, the Lakers superstar was only hailed the fifth-best point guard in the league, getting 11 percent of the total votes. Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry topped the list with 30 percent despite playing a total of just five games in 2019-20.

Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers came in third with 22 percent of the votes, followed by Dallas Mavericks phenom Luka Doncic. James' good friend Chris Paul of the Phoenix Suns ranked fourth with 11 percent, while Houston Rockets guard James Harden was at sixth with four percent.

LeBron James, meanwhile, technically plays small forward for the reigning champions, but it's clear he is the one steering the ship on most of the Lakers' possessions. The four-time NBA MVP did lead the league in assists for the first time in his career last season, dishing out 10.2 per game along with incredible averages of 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals.

As for Paul Pierce, it's nice to see him give some props to his old rival. The pair of future Hall of Famers had their share of battles back when Pierce was still actively playing in the league.
