Josh Hart has impressed The King.

Although it is early, Hart could be a breakout star for the Los Angeles Lakers next season based on his performance in this year’s NBA Summer League, and his exploits in the tournament have not gone unnoticed by LeBron James.

Hart has earlier been named as the 2018 NBA Summer League Most Valuable Player, thanks to his consistency in putting up sparkling performances and solid numbers that translated to the Lakers making a run all the way into the championship game. In six games in Las Vegas, Hart has averaged 24.2 points on 47.2 percent shooting from the field, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.

Hart saved his best performance yet in the Summer League on Monday, when he exploded for a tournament-record 37 points to go with nine rebounds in a 112-109 double-overtime win at the expense of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also hit six 3-pointers and went 13-for-28 from the floor against the former team of LeBron James.

Hart’s impressive showing in the Summer League will help boost his campaign to become a starter next season alongside the four-time MVP. He is not without competition, however, as he occupies the same position as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Hart, who was selected by Utah 30th overall in last year’s draft before shipping him to Hollywood, averaged 7.9 points and 4.2 rebounds in his first year in the NBA. He hit his stride near the end of the 2017-18 season, as he mustered 17.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in seven games back in April.
