Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has taken the next step in becoming the next media mogul. Reports state that the three-time NBA champ has raised roughly $100 million in investments to set up a new media company called SpringHill Co., which will combine SpringHill Entertainment, Uninterrupted, and Robot Co.

Jason Kelly of Bloomberg Businessweek reports that LeBron has his good friend and long-time business partner, Maverick Carter, standing right beside him in this new venture. The pair has a very idealistic and rather impressive vision for their new company:

They describe it as a media company with an unapologetic agenda: a maker and distributor of all kinds of content that will give a voice to creators and consumers who’ve been pandered to, ignored, or underserved.

Unsurprisingly, James' new venture revolves around the socio-political issues that he continues to fight for. This time around, it's all about standing up against any and all forms of systemic racism — particularly in the sphere of the mainstream media.

The Lakers star admitted that the recent series of dire events in America has had an influence on how he goes about in his day-to-day life, whether it be on a personal level or from a business perspective:

“We’ve been through a lot this year,” said James. “Just seeing that video, how many people were hurt not only in Minneapolis, but all over the world—and especially in the Black community, because we’ve seen this over and over and over. So, you know, it’s been a lot that’s gone on in 2020.”

We have to commend James yet again for his efforts here. He is putting his money to good use, not only because this appears to be a highly profitable investment from a monetary standpoint, but also because it holds a lot of promise in terms of soldiering on in the war against oppression.
