Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James recently became only the third player in NBA history to join the prestigious 35,000 career points club. While that astonishing accomplishment is already quite the feat itself, Metta World Peace believes The King can score about 5,000 points more before he hangs up his sneakers for good.

The retired NBA player made this known in an intriguing Twitter post on Friday, claiming the 4-time NBA champion can reach 40K when it's all said and done and become the NBA's leading scorer of all time.

LeBron James, of course, already surpassed two of the game's greatest of all time in Michael Jordan and the late Kobe Bryant in total points scored. Up next on the list is Karl Malone at 36,928 career points. While the Lakers star is expected to take over that no.2 spot from The Mail Man at some point, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 38k is still a long way to go for a 36-year-old player on his 18th year in the league.

But if there's anyone who can do it, it's definitely James who has continued to defy Father Time over and over for the last few seasons. MWP knows this and is confident James can get to that uncharted territory. 5,000 points is a lot of buckets and Bron must continue to play at a high-level for more than three or four more seasons to get to that mark while also staying healthy.

LeBron, however, has already revealed his plan to try and play alongside his son Bronny James when he gets to the league in a couple of years. If he makes good on his promise, the 40,000 plateau becomes a foregone conclusion.
