LeBron James has come to the defense of agent Rich Paul, who has come under fire as of late for being what James considers a “threat” to others in the business.

In the same interview where he tossed bouquets at Duke's Zion Williamson, James told ESPN that he doesn't feel that his longtime friend has done anything wrong, and certainly is getting rather unfair treatment from his colleagues:

“They're only saying that because it's Rich. When Shaq came to see me play in high school, when A.I. came to see me play in high school, they weren't saying it was a recruiting trip then. But because it's Rich Paul and LeBron, now it's a recruitment trip. Now Rich is a threat to everybody, and they look at it and they want to keep trying to jab my agent and jab my friend. And what is he doing that's wrong? They don't say that about no other agent when other guys go see [players]. They don't say that about no other agent, but my guy because he's a threat. And he's African-American, too. Throw that in there.”

LeBron James is known for taking definitive stances in favor of his friends, especially when he feels those friends are being unfairly treated. With Rich Paul coming under fire for his tactics, it makes sense that LeBron James would be the first to come up for his defense. Hopefully, this will get people to look at Rich Paul differently, or at least, treat him a bit more fairly.
