Rajon Rondo played a key role for the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, as they emerged with an important victory against the Houston Rockets in Game 3 of their second-round playoffs series. So much so, that the veteran point guard received some high praise from none other than Lakers superstar LeBron James.

LeBron expressed why he believes Rondo is a very important member of the Lakers and their championship aspirations this term:

“[It’s beneficial] when you have enough people you can trust and be in the foxhole with you, not from a basketball aspect, but from a cerebral aspect,” Lakers superstar LeBron James said, via Michael C. Wright on NBA.com. “The postseason is about making adjustments from game to game, and also being able to make adjustments on the fly because things happen in real time. Being able to see how defenses are playing, seeing how the game is being played, seeing how the flow of the game is being played, there’s just not many guys that can do that in our league. In the postseason, it’s gigantic. Having Do’ on your side definitely helps.”

Aside from being one of the most intelligent players in the NBA today, Rajon Rondo also showed on Tuesday how he can still hack it with the best of them. “Playoffs Rondo” was on full display in Game 3, with the four-time All-Star finishing with 21 big points on a very efficient 8-of-11 from the field. Rondo also added two boards, nine assists, a steal, and even connected on three triples, as he helped LA to a crucial win against the Rockets, 112-102.

For his part, LeBron James himself was even more impressive in this one, logging a game-high 36 points on 123-of-23 shooting, seven boards, five assists, a steal, and four blocks in 38 minutes of play for the Lakers.
