Lakers superstar LeBron James is partnering with rapper Drake to bring his media company, UNINTERRUPTED, to Canada.
Even though hip-hop mogul Drake is the Toronto Raptors official brand ambassador and LeBron James is the face of the Los Angeles Lakers, the two have set aside their differences to team up and bring James' brand Uninterrupted to Canada. The brand's goal is to inspire athletes to be more than just players on a field or court. James and Drake weighed in on the impact of the brand moving to Canada:
“Expanding into Canada with some incredible partners puts Uninterrupted on a global scale and creates new opportunities for even more athletes and fans to be a part of what we’re building,” James said in a statement via Variety.”
“Uninterrupted has been an incredible platform for athletes to tell their stories and connect with fans,” Drake said. “I’m honored to partner with LeBron to bring Uninterrupted to Canada, a country that continuously supports innovation and creativity.”
This is a smart move by James to grow his brand. Right now, Canada is at an all-time high basketball-wise. The Raptors captured their first NBA championship last season, and more and more fans are becoming engaged and following the NBA in Canada.
Moving Uninterrupted into Canada will allow Raptors players to reach out to their new fans and better connect to the fans that have been with them since the beginning. Props to James and Drake for helping improve sports not just in the U.S., but internationally.
