It finally happened. After a rather lengthy wait, LeBron James has finally surpassed Karl Malone in the NBA's all-time scoring list. LeBron is now second in the list, just behind former Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. It's an epic lifetime achievement that every fan of his should be proud of.

As this happened during a Lakers away game, it was unclear how fans would react to this. Fortunately for LeBron James and the team, the Wizards crowd was appreciative of the achievement. The home fans gave a fitting standing ovation for James as he took in the gravity of the situation. (via Bleacher Report)

It has been widely expected that LeBron was going to surpass Karl Malone soon in this leaderboard. The Lakers star's incredible longevity and scoring prowess made it all but guaranteed that he'd finish in the top three, at least. Now, the final objective for The King is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The former Lakers and Bucks star scored a grand total of 38, 387 points in his career. LeBron currently sits as 36,947 points, surpassing Malone's 36, 928. It's going to be one hell of a journey, but given how LeBron seemingly hasn't lost a step in the last few years, it's certainly doable. If he does that, he could finally cement his legacy as the greatest of all-time.

LeBron's chase of Kareem has been the lone bright spot of this tumultuous Lakers season. A thrilling win over the Raptors aside, the team has failed to win if LeBron doesn't score more than fifty points. Their season looks to be in peril with every passing day.
