The Los Angeles Lakers host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, and Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James is expected to play.

James didn't play in the Lakers' previous game against the Milwaukee Bucks. He was in the locker room during the entire game getting treatment on his left groin, which is still not 100 percent:

If the Lakers lose to the Nets on Friday, they will be officially eliminated from the playoffs. LA is 31-40 on the season and 1-9 in its last 10 games.

In 51 games this season, LeBron James is averaging 27.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists per contest. The four-time MVP is shooting 51.4 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from beyond the arc and 66.4 percent from the free-throw line.

James has 29 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles. The Lakers, however, are 25-26 with LeBron in the lineup. The injury he sustained on Christmas Day against the Golden State Warriors ruined LA's season. The team was in the fourth spot in the Western Conference standings at the time.

This is going to be the first time since LeBron's second season in the NBA that he won't be in the playoffs. It could, however, be a blessing in disguise. James has played in eight straight NBA Finals. This will be the first summer in a long time The King will get to relax.

It just might be the best thing for James' body.
