Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is without a doubt one of the most influential players in the history of basketball. It is clear, however, that the four-time NBA champ wants to leave a mark not only on the sport but in the community as well.

After building his own school a few years ago in his native of Akron, Ohio, The LeBron James Family Foundation has announced that they are now taking it a step further. The Lakers superstar will be spearheading an initiative to open a new full-fledged medical facility in Akron, which will be named the I Promise HealthQuarters (h/t Craig Webb of the Akron Beacon Journal):

Once the renovations are complete, the West Market Street HealthQuarters will offer full medical, dental, optometry, and mental health services and counseling not only to I Promise students but also their families in both the general program and the school the foundation operates just down the street.

There will be room for outdoor and recreational amenities too.

Apart from this medical facility, the Lakers star's foundation is also building a commercial complex right across the street that will aim to provide employment for the local community, as well as the I Promise Housing, which will offer “affordable housing options for partner families.”

Needless to say, the Lakers talisman is leaving his legacy on and off the basketball court.
