The popular Taco Tuesday took on a new meaning as the LeBron James Family Foundation fed 340 I Promise School kids and their families. The Los Angeles Lakers guard donated chicken and beef tacos, rice, beans, tortillas, and all the fixings to those in need, according to USA TODAY Sports.

He also lent a hand to a restaurant in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, that had been affected by the novel coronavirus.

This special edition of Taco Tuesday will happen again next week, as the foundation looks to deliver more meals to Akron families as part of the star's I Promise program.

Akron Family Restaurant co-owner Nick Corpas received a call last week to help with this initiative. He got to work on preparing his orders immediately and began prepping for the meals on Monday.

Corpas and his staff arrived early on Tuesday to cook and assemble the meals, methodically transporting them into volunteers' cars. Each food tray was enough to feed four to five people — providing dinner for nearly 1,300 people.

Akron Family Restaurant is a block away from St. Vincent-St. Mary, the high school the Lakers star attended before declaring for the NBA in 2003. James ate there during his high school days and so do many around the community today.

Restaurants across the country have had a tough stretch due to safety regulations, forcing many to only do takeout and delivery. Corpas said he’s just doing catering, hopeful his family business will be able to remain despite what's expected to be a long halt.

“It’s been tough,” he said. “We’ve been here for 35 years. We’ve got a name for ourselves. We do good business. In the long run, yes, we’ll be fine.”

Besides going to a good cause, this Taco Tuesday special gave several workers an extra two days of work, which should allow them to stay afloat for a little longer.
