JR Smith has plans not only to go back to school but also become a college golfer, something that his former Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James fully supports.

Smith is enrolling at the North Carolina A&T State University, which is set to begin classes on August 18. As reported earlier, however, he must pass the “NCAA clearinghouse” in order to be able to join the Aggies' golf team.

Upon seeing the news, LeBron showed his full support to his “brother.” Posting on his Instagram stories, the Lakers star reposted an image about the news from SportsCenter and captioned it with fire emojis and a clapping hand sign.

LeBron James and JR Smith have been through a lot together, winning a couple of championships as part of the Lakers and Cavs.

Smith was a late signing for the Lakers in 2019-20, as he was added to the roster to add some wing depth when the Purple and Gold headed to the bubble for the playoffs. Of course, the team went on to win the title against the Miami Heat, though Smith played sparingly throughout.

James and the veteran guard have certainly stayed as good friends. Now, it will be interesting to see if Smith will be able to land an endorsement deal from LeBron's businesses should he be able to join the N.C. A&T golf team.
