Los Angeles Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James just followed Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant on Instagram.

Durant becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Warriors. The Lakers will have roughly $38 million to spend this offseason in free agency.

It looks likes James is trying to get the recruiting process started early for the Lakers:

The Lakers are desperately trying to find another superstar to pair alongside James. Durant fits that bill in a major way.

There are some around the league who believe Durant doesn't want to play with James, though. If the Warriors win the title again this season, KD will have three rings, the same amount as LeBron. So, why would Durant want to help James win more rings when he's trying to surpass The King as the best player in the game?

Durant has been heavily linked to the New York Knicks. The Lakers, meanwhile, are going to try and trade for New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis again after failing to acquire him at the February trade deadline.

The Lakers are currently looking for a new head coach. They have interviewed former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue and current Philadelphia 76ers assistant Monty Williams.
