To kick off another postseason run, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is digging into a new book: “The Autobiography of Malcolm X: As Told to Alex Haley.”

James has been known to integrate a new book or two during the playoffs. Via his Instagram account, James posted a photo of himself on a stationary bike while checking out his new read.

LeBron James has been spotted several times in the past reading a book during the playoffs. In a 2012 interview with Oprah — a month after winning his first title — James explained his reading habit. For the four-time MVP, glossing through the pages of a book takes his mind off basketball for a bit. It's an imperative respite amid the long haul for that elusive Larry O'Brien trophy.

“I was reading to not only do something different, but to also take my mind off the game. Because during the postseason, everything is about the games. Everything is about the matchup and the team that you’re playing and the city that you’re in. I needed some moments where I could just get a different perspective — escape.”

James has been spotted reading The Alchemist by Paul Coelho, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the Godfather by Mario Puzo, Decoded by Jay-Z.

James fans are definitely familiar with this playoff ritual. After missing the postseason last year, James is back in familiar territory. He's focused more than ever — eyes locked on claiming his fourth ring and winning one for the Purple and Gold.

The first-round duel between the Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers will resume on Thursday.
