For years, LeBron James has lathered his hands with talcum powder prior to tip-off. He then tossed the chalk into the air, creating an incredible sight that quickly won over the love and adoration of fans all over the globe. And thus began James' iconic chalk toss, an indelible tradition that The King would bring to Cleveland, then to Miami, and then to Los Angeles. But on Tuesday night, some hilarity ensued during James' classic ritual.

James was minding his own business on the sidelines prior to the start of the Los Angeles Lakers' clash against in-city rivals Los Angeles Clippers. He was smothering his hands with powder, prepared to pull off his iconic chalk toss. However, his injured star teammate Anthony Davis, nearing a return, was standing way too closely to James.

As a result, Anthony Davis found himself caught in the precipitation of powder particles from LeBron James. He then tried to jokingly wipe off the chalk as it hilariously got into his face and clothes.

As great as it is to see Davis play along with James' hijinks, Lakers fans will be counting the seconds until their star big man makes his much-awaited return to action. With the Lakers still within striking distance of the play-in seeds, Davis' return should be a huge boost for a team that has underperformed for the past two years.

Even with LeBron James and Russell Westbrook combining to be one of the best duos in the NBA, Anthony Davis' presence transforms the Lakers, especially defensively. Moreover, he was playing at an absurd level offensively before he went down with injury. Thus, Lakers fans will be hoping that getting doused with chalk won't be yet another cause for injury for a man who has missed significant time.
