LeBron James' I PROMISE School students received free eye exams, lenses and frames on Monday.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar opened up the I PROMISE School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio last year. Its purpose is to help at-risk children in the Ohio community succeed in school.

“Watching our students put on a pair of glasses that allowed them to see clearly for the very first time was life changing,” Michele Campbell, who is Executive Director of The LeBron James Family Foundation, said. “They are literally seeing the world through a whole new perspective, with vision they didn’t even know they were missing. Being able to see is critical to learning, and now they have that resource available right on site thanks to this game-changing partnership.

“To have the support and care of the incredible Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons team is invaluable and eliminates another barrier to learning many of our students and their families have. They can now feel confident in themselves and in their vision, knowing they have access to this transformational care.”

LeBron James may be in California now playing for the Lakers, but he’s never going to stop making an impact in Northeast Ohio.

James continues to cement himself as the greatest role model of our generation. He has never shied away from using his platform to spark change, and he is arguably one, if not the most, impactful and influential athlete in history.
