The NBA just named Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo as this season's Most Valuable Player, making it back-to-back wins for the 25-year-old stud. As it turns out, this does not exactly sit well with LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers – who himself came in second in the MVP voting.

After L.A.'s impressive 126-114 victory over the Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of the West Finals on Friday, James was asked to comment about the coveted individual award going to Giannis again. LeBron was clearly unhappy with how he was snubbed yet again:

Antetokunmpo had a tremendous season for Milwaukee, leading his team to another league-best finish in the regular season — for the second season running. There's no denying that he deserved the MVP title, but one could argue that LeBron himself also deserved the award. James has done great things for the Lakers this term, and the fact that he is doing this in Year 17 is what amazes everybody.

LeBron did clarify, though, that his qualms lie mainly on how the voting system works:

Perhaps James is pertaining to how the MVP award only takes into consideration a player's regular season performance, while completely disregarding how each fares in the playoffs. LeBron has been one of, if not the best player in the postseason thus far, leading the Lakers to the West Finals without even breaking a sweat. Giannis, on the other hand, couldn't even get his team out of the second round, as the Bucks suffered an embarrassing 4-1 series loss to an underdog Miami Heat side.

Be that as it may, Antetokouonmpo is still the 2019-20 MVP, and there's nothing anybody can do about that — not even the great LeBron James.
