The Los Angeles Lakers just can't seem to catch a break this season as they now have announced that a recent MRI has revealed swelling in LeBron James' left knee and he will not return until the swelling is gone.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel had this to say,

“As long as the swelling is there, he is going to be out,” Vogel said.

Los Angeles has struggled this season, sitting in ninth place of the Western Conference with a 24-26 record. Throughout the first half of the season, LeBron James has been the one bright spot for this team, and losing him for any amount of time is not going to help them get to where they want and need to be.

The Lakers just got Anthony Davis back after missing a month of the season, dealing with another injury to their other star is certainly not something they were hoping for.

LeBron James is averaging 29.1 points per game, 7.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists this season, and he has the NBA's fourth-highest PER. There was an argument to be made that the Lakers superstar might have been the league's MVP, but if he continues to miss games, it would not only affect his team, but it will also hurt his MVP chances.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers will face the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta, where they will aim to steal a win against a tough Hawks team.
