It's a well-known fact that the Los Angeles Lakers were one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA last season. It's also no secret that they're doing everything they can to try and improve their team ahead of what they hope will be a bounceback campaign in 2022-23. Unfortunately for LeBron James and Co., however, not everyone is jumping on the Lakers hype train just yet.

If you ask NBA icon Isiah Thomas, the Hall of Fame point guard remains adamant that the Lakers are still going to be bad next season:

“There’s no easy games in the Western Conference… If you’re looking at an easy game, maybe the Lakers,” Thomas said, via Joey Linn of SI.com.

That's savage. To be fair to Thomas, though, it's not as if the Lakers have done anything significant this offseason to make us all believe that they're going to be a much better team in 2022-23. They did bring in rookie coach Darvin Ham into the mix and while this has stirred a bit of excitement, the fact still remains that LA will be fielding pretty much the same team next season — at least for now.

All this can change in a blink of an eye, though. The Lakers have been linked to a handful of blockbuster deals already, with none more sensational than a Kyrie Irving-LeBron James reunion in Hollywood. If the Lakers are somehow able to make this deal happen, then Thomas, along with more than a few critics, could have a quick change of heart about LA.
