It's no secret that the Los Angeles Lakers have been struggling early on in the season. It would be an understatement to say that the star-studded side has failed to live up to the lofty expectations many had before the start of the season. Then again, a lot of people also believed that LA's offseason moves would backfire, and at this point in the campaign, this has actually been true.
The Lakers continue to try and shape their roster as they look to get things going this season. Their latest move comes in the form of former first-round pick Sekou Doumbouya, who LA has decided to send to the waivers. In an official announcement made via NBA.com, the Lakers confirmed that they will now be parting ways with the 20-year-old power forward.
It's been an eventful past few months for Doumbouya, who spent the first two seasons of his career with the Detroit Pistons. The Guinean national made his way to the Brooklyn Nets in the offseason as part of the DeAndre Jordan trade. The Nets then traded Doumbouya to the Houston Rockets, who eventually waived his contract. He then signed a two-way deal with the Lakers in October.
Doumbouya played two games for the Lakers this season, averaging 7.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 8.0 minutes off the bench.
In a related move, the Lakers have also confirmed that 22-year-old guard Chaudee Brown has been signed to a two-way deal. It is Brown who has taken Doumbouya's spot in LA's roster.
