Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is easily one of the best players in the game today. What is not common knowledge to everyone, however, is the fact that the three-time NBA champ actually also played football growing up.

If you ask Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, he firmly believes that LeBron had a shot at being the GOAT at football had he chosen that sport. Rivers made this claim on Uninterrupted's Go Off podcast with his son, Austin Rivers:

Doc is actually making a lot of sense here. What he's saying is that LeBron is such a one-of-a-kind athlete that he would have excelled tremendously in any sport he had chosen. His son Austin seconded his father's sentiment, as he brought up how James was actually a top-tier football recruit coming out of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School — a relatively little-known tidbit that we included in our recent list of things you didn't know about LeBron.

The Rivers are talking up LeBron here, but in his mind, Doc knows that James and the Lakers are going to pose as the biggest stumbling block for the Clippers out West. It was shaping up as a very intriguing matchup between these cross-town rivals prior to the season hiatus. Many believe that these are the best two teams in the West, and that a meeting in the Western Conference Finals was inevitable.

The season isn't officially over as of yet, though, so we might still be treated to this highly-anticipated playoffs matchup soon. If not this year, then perhaps there's always next season.
