After a lackluster stint with the Houston Rockets last year, and a horrible start to this season, Russell Westbrook has finally shifted to a higher gear with the Washington Wizards. Thanks to this impressive run, the Wizards are gaining some steam to help them make a push for the playoffs. The Brodie’s resurgence during the second half of this season has been getting a lot of attention, especially from his All-Star peers. Foremost among them is the King himself, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, who had a message of appreciation for his fellow former MVP.

In a post on Instagram, James acknowledged the lack of respect he and Westbrook experience on a regular basis. At the same time, he also claimed that the likes of the Brodie rightfully deserve respect, especially after all of the feats he has achieved lately.

Just this month, Westbrook broke the Wizard’s franchise record for most triple-doubles notched in a single season. The 2017 MVP has also posted a total of 165 triple-doubles, placing him dangerously close to breaking Oscar Robertson’s all-time record of 181.

James’ message to the Brodie comes after a Wizards’ 116-107 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. In that game, Westbrook posted another milestone performance of 18 points, 18 rebounds, and 14 assists to lead Washington against the reigning champs and improve their record to 28-34. Bradley Beal also contributed 27 points to help seal the victory

For his part, James is expected to return to the Lakers soon. When he does come back, the Purple and Gold will return to their full strength as they finish the regular season with a better standing than their 36-26 record indicates.
