It has become a popular trend to post pictures saying “how it started” then post a picture of “how it's going” on social media. LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers decided to take part in the social media trend on Thursday by posting pictures of the start of his career and just this past season.

On this day 17 years ago, LeBron made his debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Sacramento Kings. Coming out of high school, James had lofty expectations to become one of the most athletic players in NBA history.

Despite all of the expectations placed on him, James has exceeded them tremendously. The scary part is, LeBron hasn't shown any signs of slowing down as he prepares to enter his 18th season in the NBA in 2020-21.

Just this past season, LeBron averaged 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 10.2 assists per game during the regular season. His 10.2 assists per game were a career-high for the 16-time All-Star.

Then, after an MVP-worthy regular season, LeBron—like he typically does every year—would take his game to another level in the playoffs. While the Lakers found themselves in the NBA Finals in James' second season with the franchise, LeBron averaged 27.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists per game in the postseason.

Of course, his 17th season in the NBA concluded with him adding another ring to his collection, giving him four titles in his illustrious career. Yet again, James proved he's still the best player in the NBA at 35 years old and there's no reason to believe he won't do the same at 36 years old.
