Los Angeles Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James took to Twitter to say goodbye to Danny Green and Quinn Cook.

The Lakers traded Green to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who then shipped the three-time champion to the Philadelphia 76ers in the Al Horford trade.

Cook, meanwhile, was waived by the Lakers.

The Lakers won the 2020 championship over the Miami Heat in six games at Walt Disney World. Although neither Danny Green nor Quinn Cook played a big part in Los Angeles' title run—Green was a starter but really struggled with his shot and Quinn wasn't in the rotation—LeBron James had a close relationship with both guys and is clearly sad to see them go.

The Thunder sent Dennis Schröder to the Lakers in the Green trade. James and Co. are protecting themselves just in case Rajon Rondo leaves the team in free agency. He's been linked to the Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks.

With the Thunder in 2019-20, Schröder averaged 18.9 points per game and shot 38.5 percent from the 3-point line. He's going to fit in very nicely with the Lakers since he's a scoring guard who can stretch the floor with his perimeter shooting.

During the 2019-20 regular season, Green averaged 8.0 points per game while shooting 41.6 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from beyond the arc in 68 appearances. Cook, meanwhile, put up 5.1 points and 1.1 assists in 44 games. He's now an unrestricted free agent after getting waived by the Lakers.
