Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has nothing but respect and appreciation for baseball icon Jackie Robinson, who paved the way for African-American athletes to play in the major league.

James was the executive producer of the documentary “After Jackie” that was released on Saturday, and with the show now available to watch via History Channel, the Lakers star couldn't help but reflect on the major impact of Robinson not only in baseball but in all of American sports.

“Jackie Robinson changed the game ON and OFF the field forever!! He defined what being more than an athlete is about,” the Lakers forward wrote on Twitter.

Jackie Robinson was a true trailblazer, and there's no doubt a lot of athletes like LeBron James look up to him as one of the best examples on how to make positive impact to the community and the game.

For what it's worth “After Jackie” seems a fitting tribute to remember the massive impact of the baseball icon to American sports. For those not in the know, the docu focuses on three African-American legends who followed in Robinson's footsteps to start the new wave of African-American players in baseball: Bill White, Bob Gibson and Curt Flood.

James himself has been a major force in making changes in the community himself, and it is safe to assume he was inspired by Robinson's journey.
