LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are preparing for a clash with the Brooklyn Nets on Christmas Day in the NBA. Following Thursday night's loss to the San Antonio Spurs, LeBron reflected on the best Christmas Day NBA games he's ever played in and settled on one in particular. Via ClutchPoints Lakers reporter Michael Corvo, LeBron revealed that Cavs-Warriors from 2016 is the best Christmas Day NBA game he's ever played in.
Lakers star LeBron James is absolutely right. What a Christmas Day NBA treat it was to watch the Cavs take on the Warriors, especially when their rivalry was at its peak.
Before LeBron came to the Lakers, he, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love were leading the Cavs in a heated rivalry against Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and the Warriors.
LeBron and the Cavs had just completed an incredible comeback down 3-1 against the Warriors, who then went out and shocked the NBA world by acquiring Kevin Durant. That set the stage for LeBron, who poured in a team-high 31 points that Christmas, to go back-and-forth with the Warriors in the highly anticipated showdown.
The game came down to the final seconds, with Kyrie, who had just hit the game-winning shot against Golden State in the finals, draining the game-winning jumper with Thompson draped all over him. It was a fitting end to a classic Christmas Day NBA game.
While the upcoming Lakers-Nets Christmas Day NBA showdown might not live up to its Cleveland-Golden State counterpart, fans should still get treated to an enjoyable game regardless.
