The Los Angeles Lakers lost another big lead on Sunday night as they let the New Orleans pelicans mount a come-from-behind victory in what was a crucial game in terms of positioning out in the Western Conference. LeBron James and Co. let the Pels come from as much as 23 points to take the 116-108 win.

This is far from the first time the Lakers gave up big leads only to be on the losing end of what should have been a victory. After yet another disappointing loss, LeBron got brutally honest about his frustrations with his team:

“I mean we are who we are,” LeBron said. “I mean, there's not much of a processing when you know you can get out and score 35 in a quarter, 40 in a quarter, and the other team 18 in a quarter. But then you also know that you can give up 40 in a quarter in the same game. Yeah, it's frustrating, obviously, but we are who we are and it's not like we're trying to figure out something more than that.”

On Sunday night, the Lakers were able to build a 20-point lead at halftime. At that point, things were looking good for them. However, it's as if they stopped playing defense in the third quarter as they allowed New Orleans to outscore them 41-25 in the third period. Again, this is a story we've seen the Lakers take part in for pretty much the entire season.

As LeBron said in his post-game interview above, this is just the harsh reality the Lakers are living in right now. They can get hot at any given time, but also, they have a tendency on easing up whenever they are able to build big leads.

This kind of sounds like LeBron James accepting his team's shortcomings. It doesn't exactly seem like he's given up on his squad and is ready to wave the white flag. However, it does feel like he's already learned to live with how the Lakers just are far from a championship-contending side at the moment. It's been a really tough year for The King.
