Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James continues to defy Father Time.

James posted a triple-double in Thursday's win over the Denver Nuggets, scoring 27 points on 12-for-19 shooting while dishing out 10 assists and grabbing 10 rebounds. His play is garnering endless praise from his peers, with Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green asking how LeBron still seems to be improving.

For his part, James stated he has never been one to put a “ceiling” on his potential, adding he feels he is better than last season despite the quick turnaround:

“I’ve never put a ceiling on my ability to continue to get better,” James said, via Jovan Buha of The Athletic. “And I’ve always had a growth mindset on how I can get better with my game. And I wasn’t too fond of the short offseason because I didn’t really get an opportunity to kind of dissect a part of my game where I wanted to get better at but I used the time wisely. Mostly for my body, mostly for my mind with the short offseason but also just coming back a better player.

“And I feel like I’m a better player than I was last year. I feel like I can beat the defense at any facet once I cross halfcourt. So I think it makes our team that much better when I can improve and I feel like I’ve improved my game.”

There is reason to believe this has been the best season of LeBron's career so far.

James' per-36 minutes surpass his Miami Heat years when LeBron was thought to be at the height of his powers. The Lakers forward is also shooting a career-high 40.9 percent from beyond the arc on 6.7 attempts per game.

It is pretty remarkable James can still perform at this level, both given the sheer mileage on his body in addition to the shortened offseason following the Lakers' NBA championship last fall. Nevertheless, LeBron remains determined to prove he is still the best player in basketball, even in Year 18.
