LeBron James is back in the gym as the Los Angeles Lakers are set to begin training camp in the coming days. Russell Westbrook has also been putting in the work as he embarks on his first stint with the Lakers.

Another new member of the Lakers, DeAndre Jordan, is likewise excited to suit up for the Purple & Gold. He found himself suddenly dispensable with the Brooklyn Nets despite helping lure Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to join the squad.

But now, he's with another powerhouse team and he knows he won't have a major role for the Lakers. But Jordan knows exactly how he can contribute to the squad (via Silver Screen and Roll).

“I think that my role for any team that I’m on pretty much stays the same. I’m coming in to defend the basketball, try to change shots and alter shots at the rim, rebound the basketball, get my teammates open as best as possible and keep possessions alive for us, and be a great force on both ends of the basketball floor, and be a great locker room guy. That’s pretty much been my niche on every team that I’m on, and I’m excited to get here and get to work with these guys.”

Jordan's remarks would definitely make LeBron and Westbrook happy. DJ's activity on the defensive end could lead to fastbreak opportunities for the Lakers, something The King and Brodie would definitely take advantage of. With Jordan manning the paint, LeBron and Westbrook will have an insurance guy covering for them when they get beat on defense.
