Los Angeles Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James met Chicago Bulls legend and NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan for the first time when he was 16-years-old and it's a day The King will never forget.

The Lakers are in Charlotte to take on the Hornets on Saturday, so naturally, LeBron James was asked about Michael Jordan, who owns the Hornets.

“It was godly,” James said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “I've said that over and over before, but it was like meeting God for the first time. That's what I felt like as a 16-year-old kid when I met MJ.

“MJ made the game global. He made the game global. He made people all over the world want to watch the game of basketball because of his marketability, because of the way he played the game of basketball, because of who he was. He kind of transcended that era.”

LeBron James and Michael Jordan are arguably the two greatest basketball players of all-time. LeBron is often compared to MJ as everyone knows. Jordan won six championships with the Bulls and was undefeated in the Finals. His Airness also won five MVP awards, six Finals MVPs, was a 10-time scoring champion and won the 1987-88 Defensive Player of the Year award.

James, meanwhile, is just 3-6 in the Finals and some pundits use his losing record in Finals as the main reason why he will always be behind Michael Jordan in the all-time player rankings. LeBron has four MVPs on his résumé and is a three-time Finals MVP. The King will pass Jordan on the NBA's all-time scoring list one day.
