LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Lakers played one of only two games they'll play at the Staples Center on Monday night with some notable players not suiting up due to rest or injuries. LeBron James was one of the many that didn't take the court for the Lakers against the Golden State Warriors, but it didn't really matter as they got the win over Stephen Curry and company with relative ease.

After James rested on Monday, the question loomed about whether he'd play in one or both of the preseason games remaining before the regular season gets underway on Oct. 22. LeBron answered that question in an impromptu press conference before the game at Staples.

“It's been a long time,” LeBron said of playing in front of Lakers fans in Los Angeles. “I'm kind of bummed out I'm not playing tonight, but I plan on playing on Wednesday. I'm excited to get out there…I'm excited to get out there in front of our home fans. I've missed them a lot, and hopefully, they've missed me and missed us.”

The same can't be said for Anthony Davis, however. The Lakers sent out an update on Davis' status during the win over the Warriors on Monday night, saying the superstar forward is considered day-to-day moving forward. The safe bet would be that he'll miss the rest of the preseason to get his injured thumb back to full strength in time for the L.A. Clippers next week or at a time the team feels he can get back on the floor.

On Wednesday, the Lakers will face the Warriors for a third time this preseason, and it won't be the last as they'll play their preseason finale against Golden State at the new Chase Center in San Francisco on Friday night.
