Basketball fans are yearning for the return of the NBA regular season as the coronavirus pandemic rages on. So is Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

LeBron took to Twitter to address Lakers fans, saying he misses putting on that uniform for L.A. along with his fellow teammates:

The timing of the stoppage was particularly frustrating for James and the Lakers.

Los Angeles had won 13 of 16 games dating back to the start of February, including marquee wins against the likes of the Milwaukee Bucks and the crosstown rival Clippers. The Lakers had opened up a 5.5-game lead for the top spot in the Western Conference, and it seemed as if they were firing on all cylinders with the season winding down.

LeBron had been in particularly good form prior to the suspension of play.

King James headed into the All-Star break after posting a 32-point triple-double in a win over the Denver Nuggets on Feb. 12, and he never looked back.

LeBron was averaging 30.0 points, 9.4 assists and 8.2 rebounds in his last nine games before the league shut down, with the Lakers going 7-2 in those contests.

Although LeBron's first year in L.A. was somewhat of a soap opera, he has been galvanized by the revamped roster and playing alongside Anthony Davis in 2019-20.

James was averaging 25.7 points and 7.9 rebounds while leading the NBA at 10.6 assists per game. He has also gone back to some of his strengths by getting into the post. In fact, the Lakers are averaging 1.9 points per possession when LeBron goes to the post, per NBA.com.

LeBron had been generating an increasing amount of MVP buzz before the pandemic interfered. He can only hope he will get the opportunity to finish out the season and try to win title No. 4.
