Before Kyrie Irving announced his decision to opt-in to his player option with the Brooklyn Nets for the upcoming season, a potential move to the Los Angeles Lakers to reunite with LeBron James was actually picking up a lot of steam. That deal isn't exactly dead, but it is clear that Kyrie isn't ready to lose a massive amount of money just to play alongside his former teammate.

Naturally, renowned broadcaster and long-time LeBron hater Skip Bayless just had to point this out. According to Skip, the Nets star just isn't that desperate to link up with LeBron in Hollywood:

“Guess Kyrie didn't want a second chance with LeBron THAT bad – not lose-$30-mil bad. So, after wrecking the Nets last season, he's forced to play with them next season for a mere $36.5 mil. Some guys just can't get a break,” Skip wrote in his tweet.

The premise here is that Kyrie Irving could have signed with the Lakers on a mid-level deal in the range of around $7 million for next season. Now that he's picked up his player option, however, that prospect has been thrown out the window.

The Lakers can still bring Irving to LA, though, but it will be more complicated. Irving is now eligible to be traded by the Nets, but the Lakers will need to give up a lot in a potential swap.
