LeBron James has passed Karl Malone for second all-time in scoring. James accomplished the feat in the second quarter against the Wizards in Washington. James is enjoying an incredible individual season despite the Lakers struggles overall. He is already a lock for the Hall of Fame, but this will surely help his argument when it comes to the greatest of all-time discussion.

James passed Malone's mark of 36,928 after entering the game against Washington just 19 points behind. He opened the game looking like a man on a mission, as he made 8 of his first 12 attempts from the field. The points that officially put him ahead of Malone came via a Stanley Johnson assist that saw LeBron make an easy layup.

He is still well-behind Kareem Abdul Jabbar's all-time mark of 38,387, and that will certainly be a difficult number to catch given the fact that LeBron is 37 years old. However, there have been very few signs of decline for James and it is conceivable that he plays for a few more seasons. As long as he continues to stay healthy and decides to play for multiple more years, LeBron should find himself with a chance to catch up too Kareem. And whether he reaches Kareem's mark or not, there is no denying the fact that LeBron has enjoyed one of the most storied careers of all-time. The only other players in NBA history to score 30,000 points or more include Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki, and Wilt Chamberlain.

LeBron and the Lakers will now look to sneak into the postseason and shock the NBA world by making a deep playoff run.
