After missing the 2018-19 playoffs for the first time since his second year in the NBA, Los Angeles Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James is now more motivated than ever.

James missed 17 consecutive games after suffering a serious groin injury on Christmas Day against the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers went 6-11 during that stretch sans James and were never able to get back in the playoff hunt even after LeBron returned to the lineup.

Since he missed the postseason in his first year in the Western Conference, pundits have been quick to write off James, who will turn 35 in December. The King has clearly heard all the noise and is a man on a mission.

The Lakers finally got James his second star after acquiring Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans. LA now has arguably two top five players on their team. GM Rob Pelinka has to fill out the rest of the roster now.

In 2018-19, LeBron put up stellar numbers as usual. The four-time MVP and three-time Finals MVP averaged 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists.

The Lakers probably would have made the playoffs if James didn't turn his hamstring. The Purple and Gold were in the fourth spot in the Western Conference standings after defeating the Warriors on Christmas.

It shouldn't surprise anyone if LeBron wins his fifth MVP award in 2019-20. The future Hall of Famer got his first summer off in a long time and will be fresh for the season.
