LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers believes that he became the greatest player of all time after he carried the Cleveland Cavaliers past the 73-win Golden State Warriors to win the NBA Finals in 2016.

James admitted it in the latest episode of More Than An Athlete. Below is a snippet as posted by Uninterrupted via Twitter.

LeBron James briefly recalled the emotions he felt right after the final buzzer sounded which meant that the 52-year championship drought in Cleveland was over. After the emotions subsided, James had the opportunity to reflect and came to the conclusion that he was the GOAT.

To recall, the Cavaliers were down 3-1 against the powerhouse Warriors team which won 73 games in the regular season ā€” an NBA record. Throughout their dominant campaign, fans continuously joked that the NBA should just hand them the trophy already. Fans of the wine and gold, for their part, lost all hope of ending the drought upon discovering that their team had to climb up a 3-1 hole.

But in a miracle-like turn of events, the James-led Cavaliers won over theĀ 73-win squad led by Stephen Curry ā€” who had just become the NBA's first unanimous MVP. The game's last moments featured the amazing chase down block by James, the game-winning three by Kyrie Irving, and the defensive stop by Kevin Love on Curry himself.

With the win, LeBron James not only fulfilled the promise, but he also sealed his place in basketball history as one of the all-time greats. For the now-Lakers superstar, this achievement made him the GOAT.
