Despite the fact that he has recently been called out for his involvement in the political sphere, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James will certainly not shut up and dribble. As a matter of fact, LeBron intends to take advantage of the spotlight of the All-Star weekend to take on the voter suppression controversy in Georgia.

Along with his voting rights organization, More Than A Vote, James will reportedly team up with the NBA, the NBPA, and the Georgia chapter of the NCAAP to shed light on the current controversy surrounding the intended “sweeping measures that would restrict ballot access” in the state.

“The attacks on voting rights in Georgia are egregious, but they’re just one example of what is a nationwide effort to strip Black voters of our power,” said Addisu Demissie, the executive director of More Than A Vote (h/t Greg Bluestein of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution).

“Given that we’ll have a national audience tuning in to watch the All Star Game this weekend in Atlanta, we have a unique opportunity to work together with our partners to shine a spotlight on these voter suppression efforts that target the league’s most loyal fan base and provide fans with the tools they need to fight back.”

This is exactly what we have come to expect from LeBron. Recently, footballing legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic called James out for being overly involved in politics — something that the Lakers superstar has since responded to. Clearly, James has taken the criticism in stride.

LeBron wasn't exactly too excited about the league's plans to hold an All-Star game amid the global pandemic. However, he has now found a way to make his trip to Atlanta productive in terms of once again making his powerful voice heard.
