LeBron James is hoping the tradition of Christmas Day uniforms would return. The Los Angeles Lakers star made it known on Twitter, shouting out Nike to bring them back — potentially with an icy theme.
This Bleacher Report graphic of James draped on some cold-as-ice threads is part of many kids' (and big kids') Christmas wishlist, as one we'd hope would turn into reality.
However, for Nike, that would mean designing and crafting 10 jerseys to use for Christmas Day only, including for teams like the Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans, who some feel are undeserving of that stage, given their poor records this campaign.
Yet there is something unique about playing in Christmas, and many like James feel like donning those special threads means something special.
Whether it was Damian Lillard wearing the candy cane red, Kobe Bryant donning the rare white and purple or Carmelo Anthony with the New York Knicks full-on orange that throws it back to his days at Syracuse, Christmas uniforms were a huge hit for Adidas while they lasted.
It's understandable why Nike wanted to step away from it, feeling they'd done enough with the town-inspired jerseys and modernized throwback alternates, but the Christmas threads just have something nostalgic to them that players like King James still hold onto.
