With all the hype that surrounded him even before he entered the NBA, it’s safe to say there were a lot of expectations on the shoulders of Lonzo Ball. It also puts more pressure on him given that he plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, one of most storied franchises in NBA history.

However, he has so far not played as well as expected by many, as he’s continued to struggle to knock down shots from the field. Through his team’s first 12 games of the season, he is only making 29.2 percent of his attempts, which has made him own a record best left untouched.

Only one player has ever put up a lower shooting percentage through 12 games than the 20-year-old UCLA product in the shot-clock era, per ESPN.

Ball once again struggled in their game against the Washington Wizards on Thursday, as he only shot 3-of-12, finishing with 10 points. Just like previous games though, he has made up for it with his rebounding and assists, notching eight apiece in those two categories on the night.

After their decent start to the season, the Lakers have lost their last two games and are now two games below .500 with a 5-7 win-loss slate. It is no secret that they hoped Ball would show a lot of potential in his rookie year and prove that he is their point guard of the future. However, with his struggles, they may need to dig deeper on how to improve his form or at least his confidence, as they can't afford Lonzo shooting this poorly all season.
