“The JBA will take a committee featuring Zo, former NCAA champion and national player of the year Ed O’Bannon, and NBA veteran-turned-Phoenix Suns coach (and AAU impresario) Earl Watson to eight cities—Los Angeles, Seattle, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia and Chicago—selecting eight prospects from a pool of 100 participants at each stop.”

According to their official website, the JBA League is an alternative for young athletes who want to play basketball as a pro, without going through the NCAA college system.

Players who are selected will play in a season that spans from mid-June to September, which will include an All-Star game, playoffs, and finals. All participants will reportedly be provided with travel, meals, and lodging, and the championship team will be rewarded with new cars.

Ball, now 20 years of age, had a solid rookie season for the Lakers. In his 52 games played, the former UCLA standout racked up averages of 10.2 points on 36.0 percent shooting from the field (30.5 percent from beyond the arc), 7.2 assists, 6.9 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and just under one block (0.8) in 34.2 minutes per game.

Whether or not Ball's new form of recruitment will uncover hidden talent remains to be seen. For a full list of the tryout sessions, head over to this link.
