The Los Angeles Lakers are on a mission. For an organization with the stature of the Lakers, missing out on the NBA playoffs is always a failure, but the past couple of seasons has had an agenda behind it. There has been a method to the madness, and despite the franchise owning the league’s worst record over the past five seasons, they are now on the brink of something special yet again.

After drafting young studs, Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball in the 2017 NBA Draft, last season’s developmental campaign was invaluable for the roster moving forward. Both Kuzma and Ball joined other promising forward Brandon Ingram, and all of a sudden the Lakers had a formidable young core to build upon moving forward. In the process, the purple and gold also unearthed Josh Hart, an athletic “3 & D” guard who can defend multiple positions and stretch the floor on the offensive end. Hart recently won the Las Vegas Summer League MVP as he put together dominant performances throughout, only adding to the excitement Lakers fans must have about this upcoming season.

The player that has brought this all together is, of course, LeBron James. Widely regarded as the undisputed best player in the world, the Lakers snared James’ signature in free agency, and the world is ready to see what this roster can do with the King leading the charge.

Going by social media, it has been evident all the main Laker players have been in the gym and the practice facility working on their respective games. Ball and Kuzma have been in particularly active throughout this summer as they have been posting content on nearly a daily basis.

Just earlier today, Kuzma was spotted dominating the opposition in an open run game, showing off some highlight dunks in the process.

The versatile forward caught the attention of the NBA world last season, as he was a magician scoring the ball at times. He even had his teammate taking notice, with Ball tweeting out his amazement shortly after the video went online.

How the pieces of this Lakers’ team will come together remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, they have a young core that will no doubt continue to develop and move the franchise in the direction it craves so desperately again.
