In the 103-93 win over the Dallas Mavericks, Lonzo Ball suffered a left knee contusion in the third quarter and did not return for the remainder of the game. As there are only eight games remaining in the 2017-18 NBA season, he will undergo an MRI according to head coach Luke Walton.

Following the win, Ball revealed he was not concerned about the latest injury according to Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints:

In addition, Ball says he was not hit in the same spot as the previous injury:

Based on Ball's reaction, this is good news for him and the Lakers. However, the Lakers have been extremely cautious with injuries this season and it remains to be seen if they want the 20-year-old to take his time. If he ends up missing some time, Brandon Ingram will likely see more minutes at point guard as Isaiah Thomas is out for the remainder of the season. In addition, Josh Hart could potentially return in the team's next game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

For the last month or so, the Lakers have been extremely shorthanded. With Walton shortening his rotations at this stage of the season, it provides the young core an opportunity to play major minutes. However, the goal is to keep everyone relatively healthy so they can take the next step in their development during a crucial offseason.

Ball is averaging 10.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 7.3 assists in 51 appearances.
