Los Angeles Lakers second-year guard Lonzo Ball was heavily linked to a move away from L.A. towards the tail end of last month's trade deadline frenzy. However, nothing came to fruition, and the promising 21-year-old still remains to be part of the Purple and Gold.

Ball recently opened up to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The former second overall pick was a model of professionalism, as he explained how he does not let all the surrounding noise affect him.

“At the end of the day, you can only control the things that you can control,” Lonzo Ball told The Athletic. “If I get traded, then I get traded. But I’m going to be ready to go. The goal is to be the best player I can for whichever team.”

Ball definitely understands the business side of the game. Despite the Lakers practically dangling him (and a few other members of the team's young core) in the trade market in the hopes of landing New Orleans Pelicans want-away star Anthony Davis, Ball remained calm and never spoke negatively about his current team.

Nonetheless, one cannot help but read into Ball's statement here. Ultimately, it may be nothing more than the former UCLA standout exhibiting his professionalism, but also, it could very well indicate that Ball and his camp are under the impression that he is on his way out of L.A. this summer.

It's definitely going to be a very busy offseason for Ball and the Lakers, but with the right type of attitude, it appears that success will follow him wherever he ends up playing.
