Kobe Bryant’s jersey retirement ceremony was a special night for many people. It was obviously a memorable one for Kobe himself and for his family, as well as the millions of adoring fans he has scattered all over the world.
It was also a special night for Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, who says the memory of Bryant’s ceremony will stay with him forever.
Per Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints:
“It was amazing, especially watching both of them [jerseys] like that. I’ve never seen anything close to that, & his speech was great. All the speeches that were given were great, & that moment — I’ll remember that forever.”
Ball could’ve made the night even more memorable had he and the Lakers been able to pull off the win over the Golden State Warriors, but they unfortunately came up just short.
Nevertheless, it was a big night for Lonzo Ball as he got to witness firsthand the sheer greatness of the Lakers. Some of the best players of all-time like Kobe Bryant have proudly worn the franchise’s famous purple and gold and brought them glory through the years.
That’s the greatness most players aspire to and Ball is likely no different. The experience of witnessing Bryant's jersey retirement will hopefully be an inspiring sight for the young rookie to continue striving for greatness as his own career unfolds.
