Lonzo Ball doesn’t feel the pressure of having to play alongside one of the game’s all-time greats. After the Los Angeles Lakers finished practice on Thursday, Ball was asked by a reporter whether he got nervous sharing the court with LeBron James for the first time since the four-time MVP decided to take his talents to Tinseltown and his answer was straight out of a page of his father’s book, per Harrison Faigen of SB Nation.

Any answer to the question would have been fine for Lonzo Ball. He could have said that playing alongside LeBron James induces a feeling of anxiety and it would be understandable.

By implying that practicing together with James for the first time is a non-event and referring to the future Hall of Famer as “not God,” however, hints at a possible dissonance between the two in the future. Or maybe, Ball is merely pointing out that all players are the same in his eyes, which is, by the way, an alien concept to his father. Because for LaVar, all players who do not carry his genes are inferior to Lonzo, LaMelo, and LiAngelo.

Ball is on track to be available to play for the Lakers in the season opener after he missed plenty of games near the end of last season with a knee injury.

The Lakers will kick off their 2018-19 NBA season schedule on Oct. 19 against the Portland Trail Blazers on the road.
