The Los Angeles Lakers are fresh off the 17th championship in franchise history, and general managers from around the NBA believe they are positioned to run it back this year.

In fact, 81 percent of general managers picked the Lakers to repeat as champions as part of the NBA's 19th annual GM survey. It is the third-highest percentage since the inception of the survey, trailing only the dynastic Golden State Warriors teams (2017-18 and 2018-19).

Executives are still enamored by what LeBron James can do as he enters his age-36 season. LeBron got top-five votes as the best point guard and power forward in the league in addition to being voted the best small forward in the league. James was also named the best passer and most versatile player in the league.

Meanwhile, Anthony Davis was ranked as the third-best power forward and second-best center, as well as the runner-up for best defensive player.

The Lakers and GM Rob Pelinka had to reposition a bit this offseason, and rival executives approve of the moves. Los Angeles was voted the team that made the “best overall moves” this offseason.

Pelinka added another shot-creator and secondary ball-handler in Dennis Schroder. He brought back Markieff Morris and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope while signing the reigning Sixth Man of the Year in Montrezl Harrell and veteran big man Marc Gasol.

There are questions as to how Harrell will impact the team's spacing when he's on the floor. But execs seem to think highly enough of what especially Schroder and Gasol bring to the table.

Can the Lakers repeat as champions? Rival GMs certainly believe they can.
