The Los Angeles Lakers had an initial broad timetable of three weeks for LeBron James upon suffering a groin injury in the third quarter of a Christmas Day win over the Golden State Warriors, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic/Stadium.

James' agent and longtime friend Rich Paul said that timeline was given right after he underwent tests, despite reports out of L.A. noting he was day-to-day. A prognosis that soon-after turned into a week-to-week matter.

Tuesday will mark the three-week timeline expiration, as the Lakers have gone a woeful 3-7 in his absence, slipping from fourth place in the West to a tie for eighth place in the conference with the Utah Jazz.

The Lakers had their worst loss of the season on Sunday against the bottom-feeding Cleveland Cavaliers at Staples Center, failing to score 100 points for a third straight game in a 101-95 defeat.

Panic in La La Land is real, as James missing 10 games has revealed just how much this roster has become like the 2017-18 Cavs, who were only able to muster a fourth place in the East thanks to James playing all 82 games.

Los Angeles will be utmost careful with this groin injury, hoping to avoid a setback, which could put James' remainder of the season and reputation as an NBA iron man in peril.

The bottom of the West will be hard-fought, with six other teams within striking distance of the eighth seed and only four games separating the No. 3 to the No.8 seed in an ultra-competitive conference.
